What do you do when your workout just isn’t fun any more?  You may have a set routine that uses a treadmill or maybe a recumbent bike and you are having trouble getting yourself ready for some more miles.  Going to the gym is the last think on your mind and just trying to fit in an aerobics class is the last thing that you’re thinking about these days.
First thing you need to do is not beat yourself up over something like this.  All of us, even the most avid athlete, has trouble keeping a routine where he/she pushes their body to sweat.  Watching TV is always better than exercising.  It’s mindless entertainment that takes a little energy then just hitting buttons on a remote control.

The problem you may be experiencing is that you are too routine.  Yep, the same thing each week over and over again can get you in a rut.  Varity is the spice of life.  I can’t believe I just wrote that, but you get what I mean.  You have to switch things up and this may take a little though to help, but here’s some tips:

  • If you workout alone, find a friend to workout occasionally
  • If you workout indoors, use the good weather to go for a jog or a walk instead.
  • If you workout outside like jogging or walking, try a Tiebo or aerobics DVD.
  • If you workout at night, try the daytime and vice versa.
  • You can even stop for a day or two and it won’t be harmful.
  • Whatever you do, just switch it up a little and you’ll find a little excitement again.
